Ever wonder why you just can’t reach the views you want on your blog posts? This post is for you! It contains a few important tips that you can’t ignore if you want to write a blog post that people will read.
I started blogging only a little over a year ago. It really is amazing how much your blogging changes in just a year’s time. You learn so much about yourself and about the blogging world.
This is the best place to start if you are just beginning and wondering where to begin. Perhaps, you have been blogging for awhile, but you just can’t seem to find that edge that makes your posts unique. Let’s start creating content that your readers will love and will want to come back for more! So how exactly do you do that?
The first thing you want to do if you are going to write a blog post is to pick a topic you know about. Write with authority. Tell it like it is because you know how it is. It’s hard to fake writing. It’s even harder to fake that you know what you are talking about. Chances are someone reading your post will actually know what you are supposed to be talking about and even worse, know that you are faking it. So pick topics that you can write about and feel comfortable with.
The next thing you want to do is choose topics that are interesting to the people you are writing to. They call this your niche. This is your audience. As much as you’d like to believe that everyone is super interested in reading what you have to say, it’s not true. Find your niche. It could be parenting, crafting, fashion, cooking, or something completely and entirely unique to any of those. Pick one and go with it. Trying to write to everyone makes it interesting to no one. Zone in on your audience, and make them feel like you wrote this post for them. Like how you are feeling right now. It’s like I knew exactly what you needed to hear, right?
The next tip is to bait your audience. Blogging is a lot like fishing. You want to lure your readers in with a catchy title and an interesting picture. Grab their attention and give them a reason to click on your post. Then don’t disappoint them. Follow up with an interesting post that keeps their interest and keeps them wanting to come back for more! If you are bored writing the post, they will probably be bored reading it!
Another important tip is to take your time. Quality content is much more important than quantity of content. Yes, you should post on a regular basis, but you should also post quality material. If you want to write a blog post that people will read it should have good content, good grammar, and good punctuation. The teacher in me wants you to know those things do matter to others when they are reading your posts. Simple proofreading mistakes discredit what you are trying to sound credible about. Prove your writing is credible and worth reading.
My last tip is to provide your reader with something they need to know. Give them content to read about that is new to them. A new idea, a fresh perspective on a topic, a how-to article, or information on something they haven’t heard about. These are all great ways to draw your audience’s attention. People are constantly out there searching for new ideas and looking up ways to do things. You can provide that for them. Give them exactly what they want. Your next post could be the next idea to go viral on any given social media!
Now go write a blog post people will want to read!
